Designer Dossier, Entry 2: Floored by Endless Options

In a world where the “remodel” is ever-present, one can feel trapped by the daunting lack of options when it comes to floors. We are here on this Thursday to set you free… Here are our favorite alternatives when it comes to floors: jfdkgl Luxury Vinyl: via Integra Floors This first option blows our minds. Could this vinyl look any more like real wood? This product has come so far. Vinyl has always been associated with commercial spaces, but that’s why this material is so great for high traffic areas in the home. Want wood flooring in your kitchen, but nervous…. consider going with wood look vinyl planks. Its all the rage. dsd Carpet Tile: via Flor These carpet tiles are sooooo cool. The BIG pro here is not fretting over spilled milk wine…. just pop that stained sucker out and pop in a new one. Viola! Flor also puts out some other really really awesome flooring alternatives. Definitely digging this look.  asmd Stained Concrete: via Apartment Therapy Are you obsessed with this floor or what? Stained concrete should not be forgotten when a remodel is happening. Durable, chic and eco-friendly are just a few of the reasons why were are digging this flooring. It is an awesome way to amp up any space with really endless options for color and stain finishes…plus it is super affordable. dmfs Ceramic/Cement Tile Arrangements: via My Paradissi Ceramic or cement tile arrangements are really the cats-meow. Look how the floor alone transforms this kitchen into a work of art. This particular arrangement adds a flare while still maintaining the streamline style of the space. Don’t be afraid of...

Going for the Gold: Accents Inspired by the Winners

Watching the Olympics is good for two things; making you feel small about your accomplishments up to this point and (as always) DESIGN INSPO!!!! On top of being some of the best athletes in the world, these individuals really do inspire normal people like us everyday. Here are a few spaces inspired by Olympic triumph… djksljf Michael Phelps via US Magazine via Decor Pad via Live Simply by Annie What better way to embody the victories of Phelps than with a scheme of blue (obviously pool water, duh) and pops of gold? Both these designs radiate strength and brilliance while still adding a bit of glam landing them a gold medal 😉 nmx,cn Simone Biles via St. Augustine via Lush Home via Blog Lovin’ I think it is safe to say that we’re all a little obsessed with Simone Biles AND these designs. The golden accents placed in these rosey rooms really bring the glitz.  P.S. Still waiting for Zac Efron to fly across the world for me… dkfjsk Allyson Felix via WHDH News via Pop Sugar via JWS Interiors This trend has come into play almost as fast as Allyson Felix can run. White with flashes of gold can make such a huge statement in a space. Also, these pendant fixtures take first place when it comes to this kitchen. LOVE. djasdk So as we continue to watch 12 year olds do crazy flips on skinny balance beams and competitors almost hit their heads on diving boards remember this: Inspiration stems from anything and everything. shjdas Until next Thursday… Don’t forget to follow us for updates, inspiring posts, and other exciting things...

Our Top 5 Housewives’ Homes

So not sure about you guys, but we love to indulge in a little Housewives marathon from time to time; the party drama, the plastic surgery, the table flipping…. entertainment at its’ finest. Mostly we watch for “market research”, ya know, because of all of the gorgeous homes. 😉 From the “re-done” houses of RHONJ to the Beverly Hills Mansions….we are big fans! Here are our favorites! cjkxjc # 5 Kyle Richards: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills via Bravo TV via Parade Kyle Richard’s traditional home with a twist comes in 5th (mainly because we can’t handle the ruffle skirts on her sofas….but we love everything else!!!) With gorgeous reclaimed wood trusses and ink blue accents, her home just seems so comfy and cozy. We like the way she used certain moments to add a little bling. Talk about a REAL HOUSEWIFE. 😉  Richard’s has made our list with her homey-california-dreamy abode. kdjfaksljf #4 Heather Dubrow: Real Housewives of Orange County via Homes of the Rich Although this is the Dubrow’s old home, we do not care, her champagne tastes never disappoint. LOOK AT THIS MARBLE…. Heather flew in specialty marble from Italy for her bathroom. As you can see in the picture above, the veins of the marble connect perfectly with each other. This marble is extremely rare and looks amazing, putting “Fancy Pants'” old home on our list. But, PS: Who else is DYING to see her new home?!?! fjaskldjf  #3 Kelly Bensimon: Real Housewives of New York via Sketch42 Kelly Bensimon’s Hampton home is unbelievably gorgeous and unique. From the colored ghost chairs to the cow hide ottoman,...

Once You Go Black….

This week we are exploring some new trends and revisiting a few classics. We find that an extraordinary way to elevate your home is using the color black to make a statement in your spaces. As we design, we must remember that even the most neutral of colors can do really amazing things!!! dlfk Here are a few examples of times that black blew us away: dfkdjf The (Bl)Accent Wall: via Apartment Therapy Close your eyes and imagine this room with a white wall….BOOOORING! This accent wall does way more than just accent…It brings a whole new vibe to this space. Not to mention, the way the lighting pops off the black is simply gorgeous! kfdjkfj Black, Bulky Lighting: via Claire Brody Designs Although this space is not dictated by black, the chunky pendant really brings the heat. It provides a perfect contrast with the light walls and furniture while still tying in with the black in the area rug and art.  dkjfkd A Sofa That Speaks for Itself: via My Domaine This couch is dominating the room in all the right ways with it’s bold presence. It makes for the perfect focal point while still managing to coincide with the rest of the space without taking over. (Not to mention that black is a great color choice with kids or adults that are prone to spill things, ya know, like wine.)  dkfjd Black Velvet: via Decor Pad These velvet accent chairs are so luxurious, yet still understated. With a color scheme so masculine, a soft velvet texture gives a feminine touch to the space. This sitting room does a perfect job of balancing the...
